Audrey Blute

Sr. Program Manager since 2016

ablute@rescueagency.com

Audrey joins Rescue with a unique background in education as well as tobacco control advocacy. As Sr. Program Manager, she oversees the implementation of Virginia’s youth engagement program (Y Street) as well as Virginia’s tobacco control and obesity prevention policy campaigns.

Audrey’s interest in youth empowerment and social justice began in high school, when she had the opportunity to volunteer for several organizations working to better the lives of children. As an undergraduate at George Washington University, Audrey had the opportunity to expand this passion as an intern for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK). At CTFK, she worked with the Youth Advocacy team to maximize youth engagement in events such as Kick Butts Day, and to support efforts aimed at gaining federal regulatory control over tobacco products.

Upon graduating from GWU, Audrey joined Teach For America. While teaching high school math in Philadelphia, she also earned a Master of Science degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Following TFA, Audrey returned to Washington, D.C., where she taught math and art at a public charter school. As a teacher of diverse populations of students, Audrey saw first-hand how health choices can influence a child’s ability to succeed in school and lead a productive and fulfilling life. She is thrilled to continue working towards a healthier, more just world for all young people as part of Rescue’s Youth Engagement and Policy team.
