Randa Connor

Youth Field Organizer since 2017

Randa Connor is from a small town in Central Louisiana, Winnfield. She graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling. While at NSU, Randa was on the Dean’s List, President’s list, was named to the National Honor Society for College Students, and was became a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Randa formerly worked with Eckerd Kids, a non profit group based out of Florida who provided wraparound services to at risk children in a 7-parish region in Central Louisiana.  As a wraparound facilitator, Randa coordinated services for children who have behavior problems, mental health issues, and are at risk for being kicked out of home and school. Randa’s goal as a wraparound facilitator was to provide the resources to the families in need and keep the children at home and in school. Randa is very active in the community. She is a member of First Baptist Church. She serves and helps her community anytime she is given the opportunity. During the flood last year that flooded all of south Louisiana, Randa organized a local donation campaign and took 6 truck and trailer loads of donations to south Louisiana. Randa and her team of volunteers took cases of water, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items, baby clothes, baby food, formula, school supplies, and toys to several churches and organizations to assist the people who lost everything. Randa serves on the local Uncle Earl’s Hog Dog Board as a liaison between the community and Full Boar Productions, the production company that holds the contract to produce Uncle Earl’s Hog Dog Trials. She enjoys assisting with Uncle Earls as a way of giving back to her grandfather, Mr Claude L Obryan who started Uncle Earl’s Hog Dog Trials. Randa serves on the Louisiana Forest Festival board, is a member of the local Mardi Gras Krewe of Kingfish, and serves on the Winn Parish Fair Board. Randa is one of the original board members for the Dugdemona Summer Festival. Randa was selected by the Winn Parish Police Jury to serve as the Winn Parish representative for the Central Louisiana Human Services District Board. She participates in monthly meetings and helps facilitate services for mental health, drug education and rehab services in Winn Parish. Randa is a new 2017 member of the local Pilot Club. She has recently been named Chair of the Winn Parish Healthy Initiative Coalition, which partners with different organizations to promote gardening, eating healthy, and promoting wellness in the community and schools. Randa has a passion for helping others. Anytime she is asked to do something, she jumps and does whatever she needs to to get the job done. Randa was recently nominated for a 2017 Voice Award. the Voice Awards program is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Voice Awards program honors people in recovery and their family members who are community champions to improve the lives of people with mental illnesses and addictions.

Randa is eager to jump into Rescue and start helping the students lead Louisiana to become a healthier living state with with cleaner and healthier habits.
