Sr. Program Manager since 2012

Nicky began her career at Rescue SCG in Denver, CO as a Youth Action Manager for Evolvement, where her youth were named the 2015 National Group Youth Advocates of the Year for their tobacco control policy work. As a policy campaign manager, she participates in all aspects of campaign development and implementation, and lends expertise in youth engagement by overseeing youth leadership team summit preparation.

Nicky’s passions for social justice and youth development are the primary driving forces of her career. After graduating in 2006 from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate in Music Education, Nicky spent one year caring for residents suffering from HIV/AIDS in Baltimore, MD and two years working at a boarding school in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti as a teacher, lead volunteer, and school manager. She also taught in at-risk public schools, trained teachers for Teach for America, worked in development at Children’s Outreach Project, guest-lectured for the Chicago Freedom School, and developed and administered a performing arts excursion camp for grade schoolers. Anxious to learn more about public service and policy, Nicky earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2012. Aside from her work for Rescue SCG, she is on the Board of Directors for Zebon, an organization dedicated to bringing about socioeconomic development to countries with depressed economies through the manufacturing of fuel efficient charcoal from native biomass.

Nicky is dedicated to working for a more just society, and believes in using diverse, research-based practices to do so. Policy change is one such mechanism, and she is driven to provide people with the tools they need to advocate for healthier communities where they live.
